Winter trails

Snowshoe hike that leads to the top of Monte Crocione (1641 m) characterized by a large cross. Wonderful view of Lake Como and Menaggio Valley.

Description

From Menaggio follow the road towards Como until Argegno. At the beginning of the village turn right for Val d’Intelvi and follow the road to San Fedele d’Intelvi, where at the central square turn right, at the traffic circle turn left and then turn right onto the road to Pigra. Arrived in PIGRA, take the road (quite narrow) towards RIFUGIO BOFFALORA. The road climbs, with accentuated slope, up to Alpe di Colonno 1300 m, where there is a characteristic cross. Here you can park your car.

Route Description: From Alpe di Colonno a downhill stretch along the north side of Cima della Duaria, leads to Alpe Boffalora, where there is the homonymous refuge (alt. 1,252 m) From the refuge, continue straight in the direction of Rifugio Venini. The farm road climbs steeply passing by the Ossuccio alpine pasture and enjoying a wonderful view of the Perlana Valley, you will reach the Lenno alpine pasture (1493 m). A short stop is recommended to admire the view of the Alpine chain and the relief of Sottocenere with glimpses of Lake Lugano behind the bubble of the alp. You will pass under the slopes of Monte Galbiga, and then reach the Venini refuge 1575 m. From here you follow the former military road and then climb the steep ridge that leads to the top of Monte di Tremezzo. We descend to Alpe diroccata below and then climb the ridge that leads to the summit of Mount Crocione (1641 m) characterized by a large cross. Stupendous view of Lake Como and the Menaggio Valley.
