Bridge of Caravaggio

Point of Historical Interest

In Menaggio you can admire the Bridge of Caravaggio. The bridge, called of Caravaggio because of its proximity to the homonymous chapel, is of medieval origin.

Located on the ancient Via Regina, it is inserted in a suggestive context, at the end of the Sanagra gorge that, in its last part, flows in a narrow gorge of rare beauty, but difficult to access.

The Tuscan artist Enrico Vannuccini has decorated the aedicule that stands on the parapet with a bas-relief dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk, patron saint of Prague and of travelers on bridges.
