Val Sanagra Park

Parks & Gardens

Above Menaggio is the Val Sanagra Park, a vast territory rich in flora, fauna and ancient rural settlements within which numerous routes are traced.

The Park is called "a pearl of nature between Lario and Ceresio" and is located in a beautiful valley that wedges into the heart of the Lepontine Pre-Alps.

Descrizione

On a large geographical scale, the park is located between Lake Como and Lake Lugano and can be seen along the stretch of road that connects Menaggio to Grandola and Uniti (400 m), near the famous crest called "Sella di Grandola" or Val Menaggio.

The valley has a considerable development: it covers a difference in height of 1900 m and a route of 15 km.

The important aspect of the Val Sanagra Park is the still wild environment made up of woods, meadows and mountain pastures. Thanks to these habitats, the park enjoys a wildlife heritage of undoubted value: more than a hundred sedentary animals, as evidenced by the presence of an oasis of protection of fauna.

The conservation of the natural heritage, the absence of an otherwise increasing urbanization and, paradoxically, the ease of communication and accessibility make this area one of the most interesting territories in the Lake Como area.
